Smash
The article smash talks about old tennis legend Marty Reisman who has watched a sport he used to dominate at change around him into something quite different. He strives to be the best and despite his age believes he can win a national tournament. He seems to have a great drive however it stems from his narcissism in the game of ping pong. He is the Harry Flavel of Ping pong, arrogant and very confident that he is always right. His confidence in himself drives him and you never see him truly give up. People who are arrogant tend to work hard because they need to prove themselves to confirm their confidence. They also seem to suffer the most when they fail. Being confident and being arrogant are two different mindsets. Arrogance is for the weak who are insecure about their abilities and who can't accept their true abilities they would rather believe they are better than they are. Confidence is when a person understands themselves and knows their ability but wont over exaggerate themselves. I believe Reisman is mostly arrogance but only because he was once the best but now the game has changed and he was left in the dust not willing to give up he became arrogant.
